The main objective of the project was to improve the lighting standard and energy efficiency of the street lighting system with aesthetic considerations on historic and tourist attractions. The city partner was interested in using an EPRP (Energy Performance Related Payment) model.
The original objective was to refurbish only the sections of the street lighting system that were in dire need of replacement. However, after realising the extent of the work required, the municipality decided to develop a holistic refurbishment concept for the entire street lighting system.
