The main project aim is providing with a cost effective system to optimize energy use of all available biological waste material suited for anaerobic co-digestion.
Production of biogas from renewable energy sources connects to both national and regional climate and energy objectives. The regional objectives for 2020 are e.g. 80 % renewable energy sources and 15 % renewables in the transport sector.
Pre-treated food waste is one of the substrates for the biogas plant and that links to a national milestone for year 2018, indicating that at least 40 percent of food waste from households, shops and restaurants should be treated biologically, so that nutrients and energy are utilized.
