Zero-rate loans for the citizens who invest in clean energy

The Province of Milano established a public-private partnership with 11 banks to make available zero-rate loans to citizens who are willing to implement energy saving measures at their homes. The project aim is stimulating access to credit for sustainable energy investments.

The Province of Milano established a public-private partnership with 11 banks to enable zero-rate loans for citizens who are willing to implement energy saving measures at their homes (since 2006). The citizens are allowed to get an interest free loan for energy saving investments up to EUR 50 000 with a payback time of 7 years. Half  interest is paid by the province and the other half by the banks. The idea was to stimulate the access to credit for sustainable energy investments. The maximum loan duration is 7 years.
