Retrofitting and New Build in the New Environment - SERVE conference (Ie) | |
|
The conference is being organised as part of the EU SERVE Project which Tipperary Institute is coordinating. Linked to the event on the 22nd of April will be site visits to the eco-village in Cloughjordan and to houses which have had energy efficiency retrofits completed as part of the SERVE project. People will get the opportunity to see how houses can be upgraded, the associated technical issues and demonstrations of the eco-houses within the eco-village.

O.Ö Energiesparverband invites you to the European Pellet Conference which will be held on 3-4 March in Wels (A) in the frame of the World Sustainable Energy Days 2010. The detailed conference programme is available on the website. The conference takes place in parallel to the "Energiesparmesse", a trade show dedicated to renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. An online registration form is available on the conference website (www.wsed.at), as well as further information.

Rhônalpénergie-Environnement (RAEE),
Rhône-Alpes Region, and the
Cluster Rhône-Alpes Eco-énergies, organise, within
the framework of the 'Open Days' session, a day of sharing
experiences on the housing certification of high energetic
performance. Some practical cases will be presented, such as
exemplary realisations, challenges; how to incite the
customers and the project owners to go towards the
certification; and European benchmark in Germany and Italy. The Cluster Rhône-Alpes Eco-énergies invites other European clusters as well as his members and partners in Rhône-Alpes and in France to focus on the state of progress of certification in the various territories and think about the first experience feedback. The World Association of the Major Metropolises

“Metropolises and Crisis: global challenge, local
solutions" organized on the 12th of October 2009 at the
Regional Council of Ile de France in Paris.
The objective of the Conference is to discuss and foster debates about the crisis and to elaborate possible solutions that can be applied at the local level.
During the day, there will be a Round Table dedicated to the ecological transition as an acceptable response to the crisis.

The European Future Energy Forum 2009 (EFEF 2009) hosted by EVE
The Ente Vasco de la Energía (EVE) is hosting the world’s leading forum on future energy types, the European Future Energy Forum 2009 (EFEF 2009), in the Basque city of Bilbao. EFEF 2009, which will run from 9 to 11 June 2009 in Bilbao, Spain, is intended to focus the attention of leading international agents involved in developing future energy sources in Europe, with particular focus on renewables.

After one year of campaigning for energy savings the winners of the Energy Trophy+ competition, were awarded in the presence of Mr Roger Léron, Vice-president of Fedarene, Mrs Pirjo-Liisa Koskimaki, Energy Efficiency Unit, DG Energy and Transport and Mrs. Françoise Grossetête, Member of the European Parliament.
The focus of the competition, gathering more than 150 participants from 17 countries was to raise awareness for behavioral changes and showing off possibilities for energy savings in office buildings.

On 11 February 2009 Mrs Fiona Hall, Member of the European Parliament, presented the European Energy Service Award (EESA) to Europe’s five most innovative institutions and projects. Mr Matthias Ruete, Director-General of DG Energy and Transport, opened the award ceremony with an introduction to the EU policy in this area. The ceremony, organised by Berliner Energieagentur GmbH took place in the context of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week.
The EESA honours outstanding achievements to energy efficiency through energy services. The awarded projects and accomplishments showcase the successes and opportunities of energy services. The winners for the five categories are: Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (Best Promoter 2008), Danpower GmbH (Best Provider 2008), Energy Agency of the Region Castilla y Leon (Best Project 2008 - Public Sector), Siemens Building Technologies Group (Best Project 2008 - Commercial Sector) and The Prague Marriott Hotel (Best Project 2008 - Lighting Sector).
The European Energy Service Award is an ideational award with no prize money attached. It is a means to highlight the ability and openness of the public sector towards innovation, as well as the responsiveness and equally innovation on the side of those driving processes and providing energy services. The programme of the conference was divided in 2 sessions: 1) National and regional policies in the field of energy efficiency, climate change and employment. 2) Internal management strategies for the adaptation to the legal framework, development of activities and services.
The conference, moderated by Claude Bassin Carlier, Director of ARENE Ile-de-France enjoyed the participation, among others, of Edgardo Iozia, Vice-President of the EESC section for transport, energy, infrastructure and information society and Ana Belén Sanchez, International Labour Organisation.

In the first half of the workshop, representatives of the European institutions (Waltraud Schmid, EACI; Pedro Ballesteros Torres and Pirjo-Liisa Koskimaki from DG Energy and Transport, European Commission) discussed the role of the implementation of competitions and awards in facilitating energy efficiency measures and energy savings by supporting the target of reaching 20% energy savings by 2020. The speakers recognized the important impact played by the competitions and awards in activating citizens, staff, students, in recognising outstanding results, but they stressed the fact that the awards need an attractive setting and to be implemented at the right level in order to have a sustainable effect.
In the second half, the interventions focused on different energy saving and energy efficiency competitions: Energy Trophy+, European Energy Award, Energy Neighbourhood directed towards different target groups like municipalities, households and companies. The speakers (Marlène Claveizolle, Conseil Général 42 Roanne; Birgit Reher, City of Bielefeld; Mike Desmet, Bond Beter Leefmilieu) involved in the mentioned competitions presented the challenges and success factors of their own field experience.
