Fighting energy poverty: towards a European political framework?

achieve logo

After visiting over 1700 fuel poor households across Europe, the IEE project “ACHIEVE” (2011-2014), hits the limits of individual approaches to fight fuel poverty. Steps must be taken on systemic level and this conference will address the fight against fuel poverty from a European perspective.

What are the current findings and manifestations of fuel poverty in the member states? Could there be a common European definition of the phenomenon, and if so what should it include? What solutions should be promoted at the European level to tackle this growing issue?

These questions will be debated in an EU conference organised by the ACHIEVE partners and the European Economic and Social Committee with a panel of stakeholders representing civil society, energy providers and the EU institutions.

Date: 5 March 2014, from 9.00 – 1.00 pm

Location: European Economic and Social Committee, Rue Belliard 99, 1040 Brussels
