AGENEX, EXTREMADURA
The Agency of Energy of
Extremadura (Agencia Extremeña de la Energía, or AGENEX) was created in
2.002 sharing the objectives of the SAVE II Initiative of the European
Commission.
The aims of AGENEX include:

Creation of a stable support
structure for energy development as a tool for planning.

Being a source of advice for
enterprises, local authorities and other organisations.

Energy Planning of the
Region.

Improvement of local economy
through the promotion of the competitiveness of companies, the increase
of the energy self-suppliance and the creation of employment.

Protection of the
environment through the reduction of CO2 emissions and other pollutants.
The Agency articulate its
activity through next bodies:
The Executive Committee of
AGENEX is the steering authority. It watches over he observance of the
statute, is responsible for definition of tasks and elaborates the budget.
It participates in the conception of the Strategic Plan and guarantees the
cooperation between the parts. The regional Minister of Industry, Energy and
Environment is the representative of the Executive Committee, being the
members the stakeholders: Government of Extremadura (www.juntaex.es),
Delegation of National Government in Badajoz (www.dip-badajoz.es),
Delegation of National Government in Cáceres (www.dip-caceres.es),
University of Extremadura and Institute for Diversification and Saving of
Energy, or IDEA (www.idae.es).
There is also a Consultant
Committee for technical and scientific support to the Agency, which
elaborates and assesses the Strategic Plan and establishes the main
objectives. It supervises also, supports and controls the technical staff of
the Agency.
The AGENEX has also technical
and administrative staff, and two main offices, one in Cáceres and another
in Badajoz.
