Objectives and Strategy
The Berlin Energy Agency
was founded in 1992 as a private limited company on the
initiative of the Berlin senate with the aim to identify
energy saving potentials and to facilitate the
implementation of renewable energy sources. Equal partners
of the Berlin Energy Agency are Deutsche Ausgleichsbank
(public law corporation), Bewag plc. (utility) and the State
of Berlin.
Innovative projects that
guarantee the reduction of energy costs on the one hand and
reduction of CO2-emissions on the other hand have
so far been developed and realised for industrial plants,
small and medium-sized companies, hospitals, housing
companies as well as for public and non-commercial
institutions.
The Berlin Energy Agency
acts on local and regional level as well as internationally
as a project co-ordinator in the framework of various EU-supported projects.

As an operator the Berlin
Energy Agency takes over the financing and planning, the
installation and operation, the control and accounting of
energy supply at its own risk. The services comprise

- Photovoltaics and solarthermal plants
- Cooling and pneumatic systems
