Supporting a booming development of the Danish biogas sector

The Danish Technology Centre for Biogas (DFFB) and the Energy Consulting Network (EC network) support the development of the Danish biogas sector via different types of interventions.

Supporting a booming development of the Danish biogas sector

Using various types of waste fragments for biogas production represents a source of multiple benefits. In Denmark, biogas is booming due to benefits such as CO2 reductions, providing sustainable fuel for transport, absorbing fluctuations in the energy system and improving local economies. Capacity-building and assisting activities on the ground are paving way for releasing the potential of biogas and turning it into a key source for a sustainable Danish energy system.

Under the H2020 Biogas Action project, the Danish Technology Centre for Biogas (DFFB) and the Energy Consulting Network (EC network) support this development by the following types of intervention:

  • Institutional building and strengthening the biogas sector framework: a particular focus is put on building the capacities of municipalities and improving their interaction with related stakeholders.
  • Optimizing biogas production: this entails an effort to integrate biogas in the conventional educational system, including putting in place a vocational education called “Process operator”.
  • Assistance to business models and high-quality biogas project development: this concerns support to the installation of new pre-treatment plants for biomass and helping an existing biogas plant to expand its production.
