Window manufacturer Internorm in Traun

During the World Sustainable Energy Days 2019 organised by OÖ Energiesparverband, a visit of the window manufacturer Internorm was organised. Internorm is among the largest window manufacturers in Europe and an innovation leader.

Internorm is among the largest window manufacturers in Europe. In its 87 years of existence, the family business has manufactured over 24 million window and door units, all 100% ”Made in Austria”. 1,300 distribution partners in 22 countries market the products. As an innovation leader, Internorm pioneered a range of innovations: window systems with 3 panes and 3 seals, the first European lead-free PVC windows and the first timber/aluminium window with highly-insulating thermal foam. Presently, high efficiency windows have a thermal insulation (Uw) as low as 0.60W/(m2K). One innovation is the ”I-tec” technology for ”smart windows” with integrated burglary protection, window-integrated ventilation, blinds with automated day/night recognition as well as sun and heat protection without an external power source. Energy efficiency is also implemented in the company’s own buildings and factories. The Internorm building in Traun was expanded and renovated in 2013. Among other things, the following measures were implemented: a groundwater heat pump, a 60m2 solar thermal system, I-tec ventilation, sun protection with daylight control and an LED lighting concept.
