EUSEW – INTERREG MED’s Renewable Energy Community

This session offers an overview about how to support energy transition in rural areas and islands areas based on regional consultations across the Mediterranean.

INTERREG MED’s Renewable Energy Community will organized an event in the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2019 in Brussels.

INTERREG MED’s Renewable Energy Community will provide an overview of the lessons learned by recent INTERREG MED renewable energy projects about how to support the energy transitions of islands and rural areas. This overview is based on project results and regional consultations with stakeholders across the Mediterranean. It will be debated by a round-table of experts from the Climate Alliance, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE). The round-table will be wrapped-up with an art exhibition and cocktail.

At this moment, the projects are in the mid-term of their overall performance and the conference will present their on-going results to experts and strategic institutions with the objective of exchange opinions about their technical approach and their contribution to regulatory framework. The conference is organized with the support and in the presence of the EU Director General for Energy.

The conference welcomes all who work on energy, within the fields of energy efficiency in buildings and renewable energy, in local governments, in national authorities, but also politics, businesses, industry and NGOs.
