FEDARENE Info 45 – Focus on climate adaptation

This Spring 2018 edition features articles on climate adaptation. Because of natural disasters causing great damage on geographical, social and economic levels, energy experts are starting to think about ways to reduce these calamities and to continue the fight against climate change. Wallonia, Skane and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes are three European regions invested in this fight who developed innovative ways to implement climate adaptation measures on the ground.

Our 45th FEDARENE Info on Climate Adaptation is now available. In this latest edition, you will find:

  • An editorial by Thekla Heinel  (Vice-President of FEDARENE for Climate Protection in Municipalities and Regions and Head of Department at B&SU, Germany) on how climate adaptation and unforeseen natural events are dealt with at the level of municipalities;
  • An interview of Jean-Pascal Van Ypersele (Professor at the University of Leuven) where he assesses the past and present efforts of EU institutions and local/regional authorities in the fight against climate change, and suggests ways to enhance our efforts;
