FEDARENE Info 47 – Focus on steps forward for renewable energy communities in Europe

This new FEDARENE Info focuses on good practices of renewable energy sources, and the organisation of citizens and smaller energy market players within renewable energy communities.

The Renewable Energy Directive from December 2018 gives citizens and smaller energy market players the possibility to organize themselves within renewable energy communities. Supporting schemes on an equal footing with large participants will have to be ensured. With more information, providing technical and financial support, more and more communities will be established in the next years. Read about some good practices of RES communities across the EU in this new FEDARENE Info.

More precisely, inside the publication, you will find:

  • An Edito by Vlasta Krmelj, FEDARENE Vice-President for Financing and Investments, ENERGAP Director and Mayor of Selnica ob Dravi (SI);
  • An interview with Dirk Vansintjan, President of REScoop, the European federation of renewable energy cooperatives;
  • A presentation of the PEGASUS project, and the development of “microgrids” in rural or insular areas, with a focus on Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Énergie Environnement as well as the island of Gozo, in Malta;
  • An introduction of C-Track 50 H2020 project, aiming to mobilise and support local and regional authorities in energy and climate planning to achieve climate resilience and carbon neutrality by 2050.
