QualDeEPC’s Development Strategy Plan defines seven priorities

The Development Strategy Plan will be the guidance for the development phase of enhanced EPC schemes, tools needed, and specifically the Deep Renovation Network Platforms.

QualDeEPC is currently finalising the project Work Package on the analysis of current practice and priorities for next-generation Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) (WP2). The main objective behind the tasks of WP2 is to lay an evidence-based foundation for the development of the enhanced EPC schemes and thereby indirectly for the testing, dialogue, implementation, and dissemination activities of the project.

Under the leadership of the Wuppertal Institut and the Energy Agency of Plovdiv, EAP,  three public outputs of WP2 have been published thus far: The report on local EPC situation and cross-country comparison matrix, the report on EPC best practices and the report on EPC short-comings and national priority approaches to their resolution.

Now, lead by EAP, the team is working on the final task of WP2, the definition of development targets and actions to be performed in the following work packages. The output of this task is the Development Strategy Plan, which sets the priorities for which elements QualDeEPC will develop further and towards which outcome, serving which purpose.

In line with the focus of QualDeEPC on deep energy renovation, i.e. building renovation saving at least 60% of energy, three out of the seven priorities identified are clearly geared towards this focus: (1) Improving the EPC recommendations towards deep energy renovation; (2) Online tool for comparing EPC to deep energy renovation recommendations; (3) Creating Deep Renovation Network Platforms, which will off a One-stop shop for information and more to building owners and other building market actors. Two further priorities on improved training and an enhanced, more user-friendly design of the EPCs will also include the EPC recommendations towards deep energy renovation. Finally, two priorities will aim to improve compliance with, and usefulness of the legal requirement to present EPC data in real estate advertisements.

The Development Strategy Plan also encompasses the country situation and country-specific development needs for the selected priorities as analysed by the consortium partners, taking into account, for example, the existence or not of online advice platforms and one-stop-shops on the deep renovation.
